What is an estimate?
An estimate gives a customer an approximate price for goods or services. The final price can change when the work, materials, or conditions change.
How to use this estimate
Enter your business and customer details. Set the estimate date and valid-until date. Add each item with its quantity and unit price. Use estimate notes for assumptions or possible price changes.
Choose one currency for the estimate. Quantities accept up to three decimal places. Prices accept two. Each line amount rounds to the nearest cent, with half cents rounded up. Tax applies to the subtotal and rounds once.
Use Print for the completed estimate. To save a PDF, choose that option in your browser's print dialog. Print blank form removes all entries from the printed copy, including company details, dates, and prices.
Limits
One currency and one tax rate per estimate. Up to 40 items. Quantity must be greater than zero and no more than 999,999.999. Unit price must be between 0 and 999,999,999.99. Tax must be between 0 and 100 percent.
Check your estimate number before each use. The form starts at E-0001 and does not keep a number sequence.
Fields on the estimate
The estimate number identifies this document. Valid until sets the last date for the estimate and must be on or after the estimate date. Use Estimate notes for the scope, assumptions, and reasons the final price could change.
